Who is an Egyptian? (Their Activities)

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated on in the past days we meditated about the finger of God. It is the judgement of God. The people of Israel should never worship idols. That is an abomination to God. But because the Egyptians have such deeds, God is sending plagues all over the land of Egypt. If we also worship idols, God will surely send the plagues of Egypt. Just like how he sent it in the land, if our soul is like Egypt, he will send it in us also. Then our soul will be without comfort.

Also, regarding idols what God says is about idols made of gold and silver, bronze and wood and stone. He also says about the idols that are in our body. Not only that, he also says about the idol that is there inside our heart.

Isaiah 19: 1 – 4 The burden against Egypt. Behold, the Lord rides on a swift cloud, and will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst.

“I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; Everyone will fight against his brother, And everyone against his neighbour, City against city, kingdom against kingdom.

The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, and they will consult the idols and the charmers, The mediums, and the sorcerers.

And the Egyptians I will give into the hand of a cruel master, And a fierce king will rule over them,” Says the Lord, the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 30: 1 – 3 “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;

Who walk to go down to Egypt, and have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Therefore, the strength of Pharaoh Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt Shall be your humiliation.

My dear people, who are the ones who go down to Egypt? Though you listen to the word of God, though you have taken covenant with Him, if our soul does not become a new creation and we keep doing the deeds of our forefathers and if we do the deeds of Egypt which we had left before for our God, and for the things of our children thinking that we should please man, if we look behind and if we intrude presumptuously again into the things that we had left, then it means that we are going to Egypt again. We, who are dead to sin if we are doing sin again that means we have not died to sin. This is because, a person who has died, will be away from sin and will be free. You can think for yourselves. A person who has died will not sin again. From this what do we know? Because our old sins have not died, when the time comes, it lifts its head. We must know that this is only the deed of Satan. 

This is what God says - “Woe to the rebellious children,” who walk to go down to Egypt.

Regarding them, God says – Isaiah 30: 9 – 13 That this is a rebellious people, Lying children, Children who will not hear the law of the Lord;

Who say to the seers, “Do not see,” And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.

Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path, Cause the Holy One of Israel To cease from before us.”

Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise this word, And trust in oppression and perversity, And rely on them,

Therefore, this iniquity shall be to you Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant.

From this what we come to know is that, those who change the truthful words according to every person, speaking smooth things and those who prophesy deceitful things whoever it may be, they are Egyptians and those who do not want to hear the truthful words, such people’s lives suddenly disappears and their soul will be destroyed.

But the Lord of hosts says that Israel should not be like that.

Also, regarding the Egyptians God says – Isaiah 30: 14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel, which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare. So, there shall not be found among its fragments A shard to take fire from the hearth, or to take water from the cistern.”

My dear people, if we leave all the deeds of Egypt completely, repent and be still then we will be saved.

God delivered Israelites from Egypt in this manner for us as a pattern.

And the Lord said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as he comes out to the water. Then say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me. Or else, if you will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they stand. 

And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the land. I will make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.”’” 

And the Lord did so. Thick swarms of flies came into the house of Pharaoh, into his servants’ houses, and into all the land of Egypt. The land was corrupted because of the swarms of flies.

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God in the land.”

And Moses said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not stone us? We will go three days’ journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God as He will command us.”

So Pharaoh said, “I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away. Intercede for me.”

The meaning of this is that land signifies each one of us. But the spirit of Pharaoh is deceiving many people means they do not leave their life of Egypt completely and do not go far away but stick to Egypt (traditions of old days, vain deeds, such kind of customs and habits). They do not leave these, but they worship God. That is the cunningness of the Satan. If we are in this manner, we are sacrificing the abominations of Egypt. God does not accept this.

Each one of us analyse and know your own lives.

But in Exodus 8: 29 Then Moses said, “Indeed I am going out from you, and I will entreat the Lord, that the swarms of flies may depart tomorrow from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. But let Pharaoh not deal deceitfully anymore in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.”

So, Moses went out from Pharaoh and entreated the Lord. And the Lord did according to the word of Moses; He removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. Not one remained. 

But Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also; neither would he let the people go.

My dear people, swarms of flies signifies the deeds of the devil, unclean spirits which are there in our soul and in our houses. But when we pray with supplication to God, to make us worship God with our whole heart he is chasing the unclean spirits. But we, after we have received the deliverance, we go away far from him in the way our mind goes and be as Egypt and worship him. But God is not pleased in that. Again, he sends the next plague.

My loving people let us not cheat God but be watchful so that we may receive deliverance from the plagues and let us submit our whole spirit, soul and body to God.
