In the journey of faith – God is our protector

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days we were able to meditate regarding how God sent the tenth plague, which is the death of the firstborn to Egypt and how he sent the destroyer and destroyed all the firstborns from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, all the firstborn in the land of Egypt to all the firstborn of the animals. After that God did not harden the heart of Pharaoh. Therefore, we see that Pharaoh and his people sent the Israelite's in haste to worship God in the way that pleases him. The reason is that the purpose that God had in mind is being fulfilled when he sent the tenth plague. This is because a Passover lamb must be sacrificed. Its blood must be sprinkled in every house. God is doing this in Egypt and showing his Son, Christ as a pattern so that through that sacrifice he will be the firstborn in every soul, which is the house for him. This is because he is making us know in this manner that every soul is born in sin (in Egypt) and then must be redeemed. After which, the worship done to God is the worship that God pleases in. God is fulfilling this by sending the tenth plague.

Also, the night when they were delivered from Egypt is an important night. Therefore, in Exodus 12: 42 It is a night of solemn observance to the Lord for bringing them out of the land of Egypt. This is that night of the Lord, a solemn observance for all the children of Israel throughout their generations.

This is the night of Passover. This should be observed only in the night.

That is, no one can ever change the truth. If we change the way that our Lord Jesus Christ did and showed us, we are not those who abide in him. Only if we will abide in him, we can yield much fruits. When we yield much fruits, the Father will be glorified.

Before Judas betrayed our Lord Jesus Christ, we see that he makes his disciples sit for supper. But he testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” Then John 13: 26 Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.

John 13: 30 Having received the piece of bread, he then went out immediately. And it was night.

My dear people, the Passover was at night. Also, our Lord Jesus Christ made his disciples sit for supper at night. Therefore, the word supper is shown clearly in the Bible. God does not change according to our time and our comfort. We must only change to his timing and this must be clearly learnt.

Also, when we have the Lord’s supper it should be eaten only when the church gathers together. But there should not be any separation and unity should be seen.

1 Corinthians 11: 18 – 21 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 

For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you. 

Therefore, when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper. 

For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry, and another is drunk. 

My dear people, our God has commanded us to have only Lord’s supper.

From the day that we eat this is when the journey of faith begins. But no foreigner shall eat it.

Who is a foreigner? Those who are not redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

Exodus 12: 43 And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “This is the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat it.

Next, whatever we have considered as kept as first in our lives, that must be submitted to God. This is because, God is looking at Moses and telling him “Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine.”

The reason for our journey and we say that none of our old life must be there because God has promised us that  it shall be, when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.

Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” 

So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt.

Exodus 13: 19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you.”

The reason for this is that God is showing as a pattern that Joseph has a reviving of the soul. This is because that bones are being taken to Canaan. Though he died in Egypt, the bones are going to Canaan. Bones as a pattern show the soul. To die to sin and live unto righteousness God is showing us this clearly.

If we live as an Israelite in this manner, Exodus 13: 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.

This is what John the Baptist is telling that there is one who is coming after me, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

This shows our Lord Jesus Christ. He protects us, our soul and as a refuge and fortress he protects us and goes in front of us in the journey of faith.

Exodus 13: 22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

My dear people, if we will do the will of God and move away from Egypt (sin), God will always be our shadow. We need not fear about any enemy. Let us submit ourselves.
