The Tenth plague in Egypt – Deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days we meditated regarding how God lays siege against us with a mound. That is in–
Isaiah 29: 1 – 3 “Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! Add year to year; Let feasts come around.
Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel.
I will encamp against you all around, I will lay siege against you with a mound, And I will raise siege works against you.
In this manner if we keep on celebrating feasts judgement will take place. Regarding this, Isaiah 29: 5, 6 “Moreover the multitude of your foes shall be like fine dust, And the multitude of the terrible ones Like chaff that passes away; Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly.
You will be punished by the Lord of hosts With thunder and earthquake and great noise, With storm and tempest And the flame of devouring fire.
My dear people, many people are living not knowing why spiritual warfare’s occur in their lives. Without mistakes, God is not a person who punishes us. If we do not obey the voice of God only then he will send storm, thunder, tempest, flame of devouring fire and all these not only in our nation but also in our soul and will be breaking our soul.
Also, after we have received salvation and the new image, which is Christ’s body, we must leave all the old traditional customs and habits, worships from our soul. Christ should only be our whole soul. To show us that no other throne should be in our soul, God in order to remove all the evil thrones from our soul, which is Egypt, not only did God command to destroy all the firstborns in the place of Pharaoh and all the firstborns of all animals in Egypt, but he showed as a pattern that he will go out in the midst of Egypt.
When our God comes into our soul, there should not be any other type of ungodly worship. The day that he made us holy should always be a day of remembrance.
That is why, Exodus 12: 14, 15 ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.
Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses. For whoever eats leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel.
You should not eat anything that is leavened. It should not be even in your houses. It is said that it should be removed. This is because after we have eaten Christ’s body and blood and after we have received our salvation, any of our old traditional customs or its deeds, the worship of our traditional life or any thing that does not please God should not be in our soul, which is the house. God is showing this through Moses to the people of Israel. Also, God keeps it as an everlasting ordinance from generation to generation.
Just like what God said, Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families and kill the Passover lamb.
And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning.
For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.
Exodus 12: 24, 25 And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever.
It will come to pass when you come to the land which the Lord will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service.
And it shall be, when your children say to you, ‘What do you mean by this service?’
Exodus 12: 27 that you shall say, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice of the Lord, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians and delivered our households.’” So, the people bowed their heads and worshiped.
Then the children of Israel went away and did so; just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did.
Exodus 12: 29 And it came to pass at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock.
So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
Then he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise, go out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel. And go, serve the Lord as you have said. Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also.” And the Egyptians urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.”
Just like what God said the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.
Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold. And the Lord had given the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children.
And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.
Now the sojourn of the children of Israel who lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.
My dear people, we see that God hardened the heart of Pharaoh till the nine plagues. The tenth, he does the death of the firstborns. In this death of the firstborn, whoever’s houses blood was sprinkled, God did not allow the destroyer to enter those houses.
But God tells the Israelites regarding sprinkling the blood. When Moses told them this, they obeyed the instruction. The Passover is being sacrificed. Because of that, God delivers them from the hands of the Egyptians and saves them. Not only that, to plunder the articles of Egyptians, he grants them favour in the eyes of the Egyptians. Not only that, but for them to worship God in a pleasing manner, they are being delivered from the Egyptians. They are beginning their journey to the place where they are to worship God as he pleases. Also, they receive grace to escape their life from the hands of the destroyer.
If we observe all these things, God is showing us clearly as a pattern regarding how we must worship God. In this manner, let us humbly submit ourselves to be redeemed through the blood of the lamb of the Passover, who is Christ, leaving behind all the old things with the fellowship of the unleavened bread (Christ), accepting the words of Christ and following God, leaving all the deeds of Egypt (everything that we thought as firsts) so that the firstborn, who is Christ manifests in our soul in order for us to worship God.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly.
