The Transgression against God – Idol worship
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days, we saw that idol worship is unto death and everything carved, mainly if we decorate our body with gold or silver that is idol worship and God is explaining that to us along with a pattern. Also, regarding many who are spoiling themselves in Isaiah 42: 17 – 22 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, who trust in carved images, who say to the molded images, ‘You are our gods.’
“Hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see.
Who is blind but My servant, or deaf as My messenger whom I send? Who is blind as he who is perfect, and blind as the Lord’s servant?
Seeing many things, but you do not observe; Opening the ears, but he does not hear.”
The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake; he will exalt the law and make it honorable.
But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!
When we read this, the Lord’s messengers only, God is calling his servants and messengers as blind and we see that he is calling as a blind eye. They will lead the people according to their desire united in the guise of the people of the world. Therefore, the soul of many people become ready for death and lie in hell and are experiencing pain. This is because doing idol worship is us doing great transgression we are doing against God. Therefore God is greatly angry.
Isaiah 45: 16 They shall be ashamed and also disgraced, all of them; They shall go in confusion together, who are makers of idols.
God is telling that Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one
Isaiah 44: 9 – 11 Those who make an image, all of them are useless, and their precious things shall not profit; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed.
Who would form a god or mold an image that profits him nothing?
Surely all his companions would be ashamed; and the workmen, they are mere men. Let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; Yet they shall fear, they shall be ashamed together.
My dear people, he who forms the idol and moulds it, and all his companions are mere men and they all together fear and will be ashamed.
Also, regarding what the idol does what God is saying is that Isaiah 44: 12 – 19 The blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals, fashions it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arms. Even so, he is hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint.
The craftsman stretches out his rule, he marks one out with chalk; He fashions it with a plane, he marks it out with the compass, and makes it like the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house.
He cuts down cedars for himself, and takes the cypress and the oak; He secures it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a pine, and the rain nourishes it.
Then it shall be for a man to burn, for he will take some of it and warm himself; Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread; Indeed he makes a god and worships it; He makes it a carved image, and falls down to it.
He burns half of it in the fire; with this half he eats meat; He roasts a roast, and is satisfied. He even warms himself and says, “Ah! I am warm, I have seen the fire.”
And the rest of it he makes into a god, his carved image. He falls down before it and worships it, prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”
They do not know nor understand; For He has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand.
And no one considers in his heart, nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire, Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals; I have roasted meat and eaten it; and shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?”
Regarding this, God is telling that they will carry it on their shoulder and fixing it in the temple. What we must think is that when God has created and formed us, can we form him? We cannot. Each one of us must make sure that only he is our God and God signifies word. Each one of us must believe that word with our whole mind and accept it and through Christ, who is a Spirit, we will live.
Let us pray. May the Lord bless you all abundantly
