Exodus 33: 19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

Merciful God

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, in the portion of the Bible that we meditated upon in the past days we are able to understand that we are the temple of God and how God is changing us into the temple of God and there were no wages for man nor any hire for beast; but by the spirit of God, God is building the temple.

Hosea 8: 1 – 8 Set the trumpet to your mouth! He shall come like an  eagle against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed My covenant and rebelled against My law.

Israel will cry to Me, ‘My God, we know You!’

Israel has rejected the good; The enemy will pursue him.

“They set up kings, but not by Me; They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them. From their silver and gold they made idols for themselves— that they might be cut off.

Your calf is rejected, O Samaria! My anger is aroused against them—How long until they attain to innocence?

For from Israel is even this: A workman made it, and it is not God; But the calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.

“They sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no bud; it shall never produce meal. If it should produce, aliens would swallow it up.

Israel is swallowed up; Now they are among the Gentiles like a vessel in which is no pleasure.

When we meditate upon these verses, the Israelites broke the commandments and because they dealt falsely with the covenant, the enemy is flying like an eagle and coming to the house of God. The Israelites made idols against the statues. Your calf is rejected, O Samaria! My anger is aroused against them says the Lord. The people of Israel made them to made the calf. Therefore, the anger of God came over them and God called the sons of Levi and when they killed from entrance to entrance his brother, his companion, and his neighbour, about three thousand men fell that day. When we see there if we do idol- worship, he raises the sword between brothers. In this manner, God does within the Israelites and then if we will repent from that, in the day of repentance for God to bless them he is saying consecrate yourselves.  

Exodus 32: 29 Then Moses said, “Consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, that He may bestow on you a blessing this day, for every man has opposed his son and his brother.”

When we meditate upon this verse, Moses had told that consecrate yourselves to the Lord. That is, without scattering the thoughts of the heart for our heart to be God’s dwelling place, God is showing us as a pattern. As the people of Israel with their ornaments made the calf, Aaron had made them naked. Before God’s laws which were written by the hand of God and given reached, their soul was deceived by Satan. And instead of following the laws they are following the calf. The reason for this is that all of them had worn their ornaments. So, we can know that because of that they are in a situation to do such kind of sin. Therefore our Lord God in Exodus 33: 1 – 4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Depart and go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your descendants I will give it.’ 

And I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”

The Lord is telling Moses that you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, go to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will send My Angel before you, and I will drive out the gentiles from there.  The person that God said that I will send my Angel before you is our Lord Jesus Christ. But because the people of Israel did such a great sin, though God was angry, our God’s angel who is Christ manifests there as one with mercy. Here God is showing as a pattern that Christ will manifest in our soul. 

In this manner, even though we have done a lot of falsehood against God, but God does not desire for us to be destroyed but for us, for our sin he submits Christ and then lives forever and he makes also to live forever along with Him.

In this manner, let us submit ourselves to live.
